Difficult
Substances
Certain properties can make chemicals ‘difficult’
to test or assess in the context of standard methods. Problems can arise
when certain chemical types behave in a way that makes them impractical
to test or analyse, or give unreliable results.
Some examples are:
Insoluble - Highly volatile - Adsorbing
- Rapidly degradable substances
Complex mixtures
Surfactants - Complexing (chelating) agents
Ionisable substances and salts
Coloured substances
It is sometimes important to know the purpose of specific
tests in order to recommend an approach for such substances.
We can advise on testing issues and methods for risk
assessment of such ‘difficult’ substances.
Chemical
Types
We have assessed and researched a very wide range of
chemical types, relevant to chemicals and processing industries in the
EU.
Flame retardants - Plastics additives
Petrochemicals - Mineral oils and fuels
Naturally occurring products
Plant protection products - Biocides
Water treatment chemicals - Chelating agents
Synthetic intermediates
Fragrances
Lubricants and additives
Process regulators
Cosmetics - Veterinary medicines
Polymers
Organic substances - Inorganic substances - Complex Mixtures
Metals
