PFA Group welcomes new exposure scientist Dr. Gerald Bachler

October 9th, 2017

The PFA Group is pleased to let everyone know that Dr. Gerald Bachler has joined us in the Brussels company.

Originally coming from Austria, Gerald has spent his academic career in Austria, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, followed by a PhD at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. During his outstanding academic career, he obtained degrees in biomedical engineering, health and environmental science, toxicology and safety engineering.

After finishing his PhD, he started working for Shell International as Exposure Scientist/Industrial Hygienist. During his time in Den Haag he gained real insights into the world of chemical regulation, with a specific focus on REACH. His main responsibilities were formulating and maintaining exposure scenarios for compliance with REACH, supporting the Safety Data Sheet authoring process and developing and evaluating exposure measurement strategies and exposure modelling tools.

Gerald’s main responsibilities will be supporting PFA clients to develop exposure and risk assessment strategies for chemicals to ensure compliance under REACH. This will involve mostly the high tonnage substances, supporting registrants during the evaluation processes, and helping downstream users to assure compliance with exposure scenarios. His expert knowledge in exposure modelling tools, such as TRA, Stoffenmanager, ART and ConsExpo, will be of great benefit.
