EU Exposure and Risk Technical Guidance
Environmental risk assessment of chemical substances can be complex and is subject to many models and assumptions. Standard models exist to guide the assessment of risks to humans in the work place, as consumers, and when exposed via the environment.
Guidance, in the form of official documents, are available to support those performing exposure assessment and risk characterisation.
ECHA guidance for exposure assessment and risk characterisation under REACH supersedes the technical guidance document on risk assessment published in 2003 in support of legislation of new and existing substances (Commission Directive 93/67/EEC and Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1488/94, respectively) and biocides (Directive 98/8/EC).
REACH guidance documents may be downloaded free-of-charge from the website of the European Chemicals Agency at http://guidance.echa.europa.eu/guidance_en.htm.
